What File Finder does

  • Sort the list by any column

    Browse the list by name, type, date or size. Click a column header to change the sort order.

  • Narrow by name, category, size or date

    Filter the list by name, category, size or date. Combined conditions narrow the results further.

  • Category sidebar with live counts

    On Windows, the sidebar lists Images, Audio, Video, Documents, PDFs, Archives, Other and all files, with a count beside each.

  • Save and reuse searches

    On Mac, save a search as a named Question and run it again whenever you need that view of the files.

  • Export the list as CSV

    Export the results as a CSV file for a report or a folder inventory.

How it works

    Choose the folder to scan

    Pick one folder. On Mac, a mounted volume works too.

  2. Step 2 of 4

    Start the scan

    Start the scan when you are ready. Results appear as the scan runs.

  3. Step 3 of 4

    Sort and narrow the list

    Sort by any column, then filter by name, category, size or date.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    Export the current list

    Export the current file list as a CSV.
