What Clear System does

  • Find copies with identical contents

    A scan groups files with identical contents and shows how many copies exist and how much space the extras may occupy. Names alone do not count.

  • Scan only the folders you choose

    Add one or several folders, or drag them into the window. The app scans only folders you select. It finds exact copies, not merely similar photos.

  • Keep one file in each group

    Select extras individually, or use Auto-Select Duplicates to mark all but the oldest file in each group. The app prevents selecting every copy in a group.

  • Check locations before deciding

    Expand a group to see file locations, sizes and dates. Preview an item with Quick Look or reveal it in Finder.

  • Sort by the biggest extras

    Filter images, documents, videos, audio, archives and other files. Sort by wasted space, copy count or name.

How it works

    Drop folders into the window or choose them with the system picker.

    Review each group

    Expand a group and check the locations, sizes and dates of its files.

    Select the extras

    Select extras one by one, or use Auto-Select Duplicates.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    Confirm before Bin

    Check the selected file count and size, then confirm Move Selected to Bin.

Does it delete files permanently?

No. Selected files go to the system Bin, where they remain recoverable until it is emptied. Items that could not be moved stay visible in the results.

Does it find similar photos?

No. It finds exact copies only, where the file contents are identical.

Auto-Select keeps the oldest file in each group, while manual selection stays available. Check the count and size before moving extras to recoverable Trash; failed moves remain visible.
