What Build Cache Cleaner does

  • See build output grouped by project

Choose a folder and see its generated files grouped by project, with the reclaimable size and risk of each.

  • Check the risk before you approve

Check the risk of each selected item before the clean-up runs. Higher-risk items can ask for extra confirmation.

  • Keep active work out of the clean-up

Mark the projects or folders you still need, and their files stay out of the clean-up.

  • Undo a clean-up within five minutes

Eligible files go to the Bin or the Recycle Bin. Restore eligible items for five minutes after a clean-up.

  • Compare two suggested selections

On Mac, review up to two suggested selections side by side. Choosing one updates the selection and never deletes files on its own.

  • Pick clean-up profiles by risk

On Windows, choose from six clean-up profiles such as Build Artifacts and Package Caches, each labelled Safe, Moderate or High risk.

How it works

  1. Step 1 of 4

    Choose a folder of projects

Point the app at a folder. It finds the generated files and lists them by project with their size.

  2. Step 2 of 4

    Select what can go

Tick projects one by one or select all low-risk items at once, and inspect a project's details before you decide.

  3. Step 3 of 4

    Review the warnings and confirm

Read the risk of each selected item and approve the clean-up. Higher-risk items can ask for extra confirmation.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    Check what moved

See what was moved and what was skipped, restore eligible items within five minutes, and export the history.

Questions

Can I undo a clean-up?

Yes, for eligible items. Files move to the Bin on Mac or the Recycle Bin on Windows, and you can restore them for five minutes after a clean-up. On Windows, Docker Bloat clean-ups can't be recovered from the Recycle Bin.

Which caches and build folders does it find?

On Mac: Xcode DerivedData, Swift package and CocoaPods caches, Node.js dependencies and other marked build output. On Windows: Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go, Rust, Java/JVM and Docker projects, detected from files such as package.json and Cargo.toml.

What doesn't the Mac app clear?

It doesn't clear Docker daemon data or every Xcode archive or simulator, and it isn't a general system cleaner or a scheduled background service. Moving files to the Bin may not increase available space straight away.

What's new

Version 2.0 · 2 Nov 2026

Find space tied up in developer projects, protect active work with Keep Ready, and compare cleanup choices before approving them. After cleanup, see what actually moved, track an optional disk-space goal, and restore eligible items for five minutes.
