What Redacted Document does

  • Draw masks over chosen details

Draw a rectangle or ellipse over a name, number, face or other detail. New masks start as opaque black.

  • Choose black, pixelation or blur

Use another solid colour, pixelation or one of three blur effects instead of black.

  • Move, resize and group masks

Move and resize each mask with handles or controls. Repeat and group related masks.

  • Undo changes while you adjust

Undo or redo adjustments as you work. Change the strength of each mask at any time.

  • Compare before you save

Compare the finished image with your original in a split or side-by-side view, or inspect individual pixels at 1:1.

How it works

  1. Step 1 of 4

    Open one image

Open one screenshot, photo or scanned image. The app works on one still image at a time.

  2. Step 2 of 4

    Draw masks over each detail

Switch to Mark to draw masks over each name, number or face you want to cover.

  3. Step 3 of 4

    Preview the finished copy

Switch to Check Output to see the prepared, full-resolution image with its metadata removed.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    Save a separate file

Save the reviewed image as a new file. An existing file is not overwritten.

Questions

Does it change my original files?

No. The original image remains untouched, and the covered copy is saved as a new file.

Does it detect details for me?

No. You decide what to cover. The app does not detect what needs hiding.

Does blurring guarantee anonymity?

No. Blurring or covering information does not guarantee anonymity. Inspect every area before sharing.

Can it work on PDFs or many images?

No. There is no native PDF editing and no batch processing. Work on one still image at a time.
