What File Renamer Pro does
Name photos from EXIF capture dates
Name each photo from the EXIF capture date it carries. On Mac a missing date is flagged; on Windows the photo falls back to today's date.
Preview every new name first
Each file gets a row with its original name beside the name it will get. Nothing changes until you apply.
Build names from numbers and dates
Combine a base word with a separator and sequence numbers, a date or a time. Set the leading zeros for the numbers.
Find and replace with regex
Replace literal text or write a regular expression to rewrite the names you already have. Match case when you need to.
Catch duplicate names in the batch
Rows that would share a name are flagged. On Mac, you can also check client rules: required prefixes, allowed extensions, name length and ASCII characters.
Undo a batch
Undo returns files to their former names. On Mac it covers eligible in-place renames; on Windows, up to 50 batches stay undoable until you close the app.
How it works
Step 1 of 4
Add files and set the order
Use Add Files, then move rows up or down. Sequence numbers follow the order on screen.
Step 2 of 4
Choose a naming pattern
Build a name from a base word, separator, numbers or dates, or switch to find and replace.
Step 3 of 4
Check the preview
Compare each original with its new name and resolve flagged duplicates. On Mac, set problem files aside without shifting the other numbers.
Step 4 of 4
Apply with Rename All
Watch the progress, cancel if needed, and see which files succeeded and which did not. On Mac, save naming rules and export a JSON or CSV report.

Questions
Does File Renamer Pro change my original files?
You choose. Rename in place, or copy renamed versions to a folder you choose. On Mac, source files stay untouched when you copy, and existing destinations are never overwritten. On Windows, the file extension is never changed.
Can I undo a rename?
Yes. On Mac, you can undo successful in-place renames as long as no file has taken the former names; copies have no in-place undo. On Windows, one menu item reverts the last batch, up to 50 batches stay on the stack, and closing the app makes them permanent.
What doesn't it do?
On Mac, there is no AI naming and no unattended folder monitoring. On Windows, it does not reach into subfolders, has no uppercase, lowercase or title-case transforms, and runs in its own window rather than the Explorer right-click menu.
