What Drift does

  • Layer sounds from six categories

    Pick from 48 sounds in Nature, Instrumental, Ambient, Noise, Meditation and Urban: rain, thunder, birdsong, ocean waves, white noise and lo-fi.

  • Balance each sound on its own slider

    Every active sound has its own volume slider. Set rain against birdsong, or keep a white-noise bed under a lo-fi melody.

  • Start from one of 22 presets

    Thunderstorm, Sleep, Deep Focus+, Tropical Paradise, Zen Garden, City at Night and more set the sounds and their volumes in one tap or click.

  • Save mixes as named soundscapes

    Save any mix under a name and recall it later. On Windows, add an icon and a color tag to each saved mix.

  • Stop playback with a timer

    Choose one of six durations, up to two hours. The mix fades and stops when the time runs out; on Windows the fade covers the final 30 seconds.

  • Add binaural beat layers

    On iPhone and iPad, add the binaural-inspired Alpha Waves and Theta Waves tracks to a mix. On Windows, add a 4 to 40 Hz binaural beat tone to any mix.

  • Reopen the app to your last mix

    Close the app and relaunch it: your active sounds, their volumes and the selected preset are still set.

  • Control it from the notification area

    On Windows, play, pause, stop and switch presets from the notification area icon, and see the timer countdown there. Ctrl+P plays or pauses.

Can I make and keep my own mix?

Yes. Turn on any combination of the 48 sounds, set each volume on its own slider, and save the result as a named soundscape you can recall later.

Does the timer stop the sound?

Yes. The mix fades and stops when the timer finishes. On Windows, the fade covers the final 30 seconds and a live countdown shows in the notification area.

Does it play binaural beats?

On iPhone and iPad, Alpha Waves and Theta Waves are tracks you add to a mix. On Windows, a live binaural beat tone between 4 and 40 Hz plays over any mix; use stereo headphones for the binaural effect.
